curriculum system.
Quality assurance also includes the development of relevant curricula. Standard formats for curricula have been developed for each trade.
Development of curricula for vocational training, its revision and up-gradation is an ongoing process. Keeping in view the latest market trends, PVTC has developed curricula for 42 trades to cater for the growing demands of industrial, agriculture and service sectors. The training on these trades is being imparted in 145 Vocational Training Institutes (VTIs) throughout Punjab. These curricula cover almost all training aspects including need and objective, knowledge and skill requirements, list of equipment and consumables, complete training scheme as well as employability sectors. The revision and up-gradation policy has also been formulated to avoid redundancy of trades. A regular system of feedback from VTIs has been introduced in order to bridge the gap if any in vocational training and the actual skills required by the industry. In order to keep it in line with the ever changing developments in technology and industry / market demands, the curricula is continuously revised and upgraded. The development, revision and up-gradation of curricula is carried out through in house as well as outsource consultations. The services of external experts on each trade are also hired for development, revision and up-gradation as well as for vetting, in order to produce quality curricula. Revision and up-gradation of curricula is planned and implemented every year. The focus of vocational training is on the practical ‘hands on training’. Therefore, every effort is made to provide the necessary equipment & tools to all VTIs as per requirement of curricula, to impart practical training and hands-on experience to the trainees. Equipment is regularly replaced / upgraded to meet any change in the curricula.
OJT forms an integral part of curriculum system.
